1. First casting of an electronic controlled tiki with glowing eyes.

  2. So I decided I wanted to get some action into the lighting of a piece.  Make more of a larger wall hanging.  I got the kit from maker shed, but the man who made them is Dale Wheat….to see more of his stuff check out dalewheat.com.

  3. Blue and Clear Moai.  Sometimes a “happy accident” occurs and something fun is the result.  The first pour filled in most of the facial detail.  And is a lovely light cobalty blue. The second pour was clear but it managed to take in the eye sockety area of the statue, so it is as if the eyes are clear.  It’s a wonderful effect.  When I presented it to the person who I felt deserved it, as per usual, she wore it around the party we were both attending and there were several “candy” comments. :)

Yes…it looks like candy. :D  Easter Island Inspired Candy.

Later we all went to the LA  Ur-Tiki Bar for closing time nightcaps.

  4. The Ever Expressive Marquesan Tung.  Is a pendant whose mold has finally given up the ghost.  The silicone has degenerated after I pulled many copies of it experimenting with different colors and additives for sparkle and sheen.

this one was three seperate pours.  purple eyes, then a clear layer then clear with a combo of goldy silvery fine glitter.

  5. Ouija/Spirit Board Planchette VLOG.

Multi Pour Epoxy Resin to leave a clear shaft through a semi opaque glitter filled resin layer.

  6. I was inspired by the industry, and creativity of my dear friend of more than a score of years, Mr. M.C. Holmes

    http://spiritboards.blogspot.com/

Thus I created some Spirit and Ouija Board planchettes.

Two have been made. I had to devise a technique to leave light shafts to abutt the lenses of the Planchettes.  I talk about it in an upcoming VLOG as well.

  7. Here is an example of using a occluder plug to lay in a space to keep a shaft clear for a lens shaft.  The First and third pours are clear.  The 2nd pour had added fine glitter. Tomorrow evening we will see how the planning and work has paid off.

    Well, I hope. :D

  8. Ouija/Spirit Board Planchette Process.

The Polymer Clay Originals have been shaped and cured, and also carved and now they are sprayed with Lacquer to make them smooth.

A Silicone mold is made by afixing the originals to the bottom of a take out food container using some soft fresh polymer clay.  I cut out the top of the lid of the container so I could pour the Oomoo 30 in slowly and carefully.  It cured for 6+ hours and voila!

  9. And here are the progress shots of the two Planchettes I have been working on.  Reproductions of the Gothic Eye and Atlantean Spirit Lens.
Polymer Clay, formed, bake cured, & carving, filing, sanding.
Next will be finer grit sanding and varnishing. :)

  10. To make good use of the Epoxy refractory lensatic effects I have made a dome for the the clear section of this Ouija Planchette.  It is in the style of the original Atlantean Spirit Lens recovered in the second expedition.  Once the piece is cured the dome itself will be sanded to a uniform texture and then lacquered until it is as smooth as glass, that way the final product, when cast, will be like the lens of a magnifying glass.  Not as transcendantly visionary as the Atlantean Spirit Lens, but it should help people when using their Spirit Boards as resystematized by M.C. Holmes, a colleague and friend for many years. Please go an see his amazing design and insight attached to the exploration of the spirit realm.

  11. Hello Fellow Plastic Explorers!!!

Lately, I have been fiddling with designs for toys and jewelry that involves animation in the form of lenticular printing processes.

The link here is a great description of how to make a 3D image using Photoshop.

My own ideas are in this realm and also in doing animation to exist inside an inaccessable space.

Currently I am pricing out stuff for my budget and aspirations.

Always a combination of fun and frustration. But always worth it.

  12. Overview of the changes in the product of my plastic advenchoors!!!

  13. Video 17.  Funky Resin and Poly Clay stuff I have made.

    Mostly Resin.

Please excuse the weird music.  It was late….I was tipsy….and I had replaced a lot of my constituent elements with one form or another of cheese. :)

    ENJOY!!!

  14. Video Log #16 : Pouring with glitter.

Martha Stewart craft glitter from Michaels.  Many shades.  Fairly light small pieces.

good when layered beween tinted and clear resin sections.
